Calis
thenics.

Calisthenics means "art of strength" and is also known as Street Workout. It's an open discipline, like Parkour, and uses compound exercises. That is, it involves multiple joints and muscle groups in a single movement using body weight. There are two styles within this discipline: Static Calisthenics, with its isometric training and postures, and Dynamic or Freestyle Calisthenics, which adds a more acrobatic technique, closely related to artistic gymnastics. Like Yoga, it works with progressions to achieve certain postures or asanas, as well as kriyas, or movements.

Calisthenics combines conscious body expression with movement and power training with great muscular control and skill. It develops athletic skill, flexibility, and joint strengthening. It is a highly artistic sport given its postural and acrobatic nature. It is gentle on the body and provides toning in a natural and balanced way. The practice uses crossbars, parallel bars, rings, elastic bands, and occasionally weights for pull-ups.

I'm Javi, and since 2020 I've been practicing this beautiful discipline, which I'm now combining with yoga and circular movements.

Main characteristic: It uses body weight, and its art is oriented towards specific postures and movements.

Main advantage: A fun, dynamic, and body-friendly practice.

Main benefit: Strengthening of joints and muscles. Dexterity and body control.
